I have been teaching piano and voice privately for about 25 years now.  I began teaching while I was studying music education at Cal State Long Beach and have maintained a private studio since that time.  I have taught children's choirs at church, community groups and classes, and voice classes at Orange County High School of the Arts (for three years.) I received my master's degree in vocal performance in 2006 from the Bob Cole Conservatory at CSULB and began teaching at the college level as well.  I taught private voice at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy (AMDA) in Hollywood, CA for four years.  I have been teaching at Los Angeles Harbor College (voice classes, private voice, and music theory) for the past 15 years.  I was the vocal coordinator at Cal State Dominguez Hills for 3 years, teaching private voice, voice class, University Choir, pedagogy, and musicianship.  I still teach private voice there, but am currently the vocal coordinator at California Polytechnic University at Pomona. I have taught private voice, class voice, and the vocal jazz ensemble at CPP for the past 13  years, but now additionally teach performance seminar, diction, the musical theater workshop, and lead all voice students.  I also adjudicate competitions/festivals on occasion, have developed summer voice programs, and have taught many master classes.  I maintain a private studio in Long Beach, CA where I teach private voice and piano.

I charge $40/half hour for pianists, $50/half hour for the novice vocalist, and $65/45 minutes for more experienced singers.  Some additional discounts are available for multiple instruments and/or multiple students.  I accept cash, checks, Venmo and Zelle.
Please call to discuss lesson expectations, needs, methods, and specifics :)

I’m happy to discuss family rate discounts on an individual basis.

Payments are made by the month at the beginning of the month.  You may pay by Zelle, Venmo, check, or cash. KendraAllyn.com is my website, and there is a student calendar on the LESSONS page.  My email is Kendivallyn@gmail.com or Kendra-Vuk on Venmo.  If you know you will be absent (or if I’m going to be absent) please account for that absence.  If there is a sickness or last-minute absence, we will search for a makeup time and if my cancellation policy was followed and there are no opportunities for makeup, the following month, that lesson charge will be applied to next month (or refunded if necessary). If you have a specific hardship with this new policy, please speak with me privately and I will do my best to accommodate you!

*My cancellation policy requires 24 hours’ notice.  If you cancel late, please attempt to find a make-up time within a week’s time. If no make-up time is available or if you do not attempt to find a time, you will forfeit that lesson.  If you do not give notice at all and do not arrive for your lesson, you will be charged the full amount of the lesson time.  If I need to reschedule you, I will make every effort to make up the lesson at a later time, and if impossible, you will not be charged. Please check with me regarding holiday observance; lessons continue during many holidays and during the summer. J
